While filming the Whisky Tour Vienna video, walking through the historic center to discover the city's whisky scene, a simple but ambitious idea was born: to turn that experience into a guide. A continuously updated guide to the places in Vienna where whisky is treated with the respect it deserves.

This is how the Whisky Tour was born: a project that will eventually become a series, where each city visited will be described through a video and an article, building step by step a real, lived-in and constantly evolving guide.

So, to avoid you wandering blindly while searching for a good dram, here are a few places that will light up your heart. Take my word for it!

Da grande appassionato di whisky, avere uno spazio dove raccontarne gli aspetti storici, culturali e sociali è per me un vero piacere.
Mentre giravamo il video Whisky Tour Vienna, passeggiando nel centro storico alla scoperta della scena whisky cittadina, è nata un’idea semplice ma ambiziosa: trasformare quell’esperienza in una guida.
Una guida in continuo aggiornamento ai locali di Vienna dove il whisky viene trattato con il rispetto che merita.
Da qui nasce il Whisky Tour: un progetto che nel tempo diventerà una serie, dove ogni città visitata verrà raccontata attraverso un video e un articolo, costruendo passo dopo passo una guida reale, vissuta e in costante evoluzione.
Quindi, per non farti navigare alla cieca, mentre sei alla ricerca di un buon dram, ecco qualche locale che ti saprà illuminerà il cuore. Parola mia!
Du musst wissen, lieber Leser, dass mir dieses Projekt besonders am Herzen liegt. Als großer Whisky-Liebhaber ist es mir eine große Freude, einen Ort zu haben, an dem ich über die historischen, kulturellen und sozialen Aspekte dieses Destillats berichten kann.
Während wir das Video „Whisky Tour Vienna” drehten und durch die Altstadt spazierten, um die Whisky-Szene der Stadt zu entdecken, entstand eine einfache, aber ehrgeizige Idee: diese Erfahrung in einen Reiseführer zu verwandeln. Einen ständig aktualisierten Reiseführer zu den Lokalen in Wien, in denen Whisky mit dem Respekt behandelt wird, den er verdient.
Daraus entstand die Whisky Tour: ein Projekt, das im Laufe der Zeit zu einer Serie werden wird, in der jede besuchte Stadt durch ein Video und einen Artikel vorgestellt wird, sodass Schritt für Schritt ein echter, lebendiger und sich ständig weiterentwickelnder Reiseführer entsteht.

The most iconic whisky pub in Vienna.

To describe Rupp's whisky selection as extensive would be an understatement. The pub offers more than 1,200 (!) bottles from all over the world. As I said in the video, it literally took us 10 minutes to browse through the menu. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. If there is a whisky pub worthy of the name, it is Rupp's. A must-visit destination for us enthusiasts.

Definire la scelta del whisky di Rupp’s come vasta, è voler minimizzare. Il locale offre più di 1200 bottiglie da tutto il mondo. Come ho detto nel video, ci abbiamo messo letteralmente 10 minuti a sfogliare il menu. Non credo di aver mai visto nulla di simile. Se c’è un whisky pub degno di questo nome è proprio Rupp’s. Una meta di pellegrinaggio obbligatoria, per noi appassionati.

Die Whiskyauswahl bei Rupp's als umfangreich zu bezeichnen, wäre eine Untertreibung. Das Lokal bietet mehr als 1200 Flaschen aus aller Welt. Wie ich im Video gesagt habe, haben wir buchstäblich 10 Minuten gebraucht, um die Karte durchzublättern. Ich glaube, nichts Vergleichbares gesehen zu haben. Wenn es eine Whisky-Kneipe gibt, die diesen Namen verdient, dann ist es Rupp's. Ein obligatorisches Pilgerziel für uns Liebhaber.

A casual and lively pub, perfect for starting the evening without too much pressure. It has a good selection of whiskies and pool tables. Definitely the right atmosphere to get into the spirit of the city.

A metal pub in the truest sense of the term. A decent selection of whisky, good music, friendly people, and lots of positive energy. The kind of place that makes you feel at home. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a metalhead, mind you. I can't wait to go back.

Un Metal Pub nel senso più autentico del termine. Discreta scelta di whisky, buona musica, gente cordiale e tantissima energia positiva. Il genere di luogo che ti fa sentire a casa. E non lo dico solamente perché sono metallaro, sia chiaro. Non vedo l’ora di tornarci.
Ein Metal Pub im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Eine gute Auswahl an Whiskys, gute Musik, freundliche Leute und jede Menge positive Energie. Die Art von Ort, an dem man sich wie zu Hause fühlt. Und das sage ich nicht nur, weil ich Metalhead bin, das sei klar. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, wiederzukommen.

One place that deserves a special mention is Das House, a Viennese venue that combines a café, bar, and a genuine love for animals. According to the café's public information, the project also revolves around the rescue and adoption of animals: over 500 animals (including cats and dogs) have been rescued and adopted thanks to their initiative.

Some of the cats in the café are available for adoption, creating a direct link between customers and responsible adoption. In an elegant urban setting like Vienna, it is nice to see places that combine hospitality, socializing, and sensitivity to animal welfare. For those visiting the city, it can be a different kind of break: a place to have a drink, interact with some four-legged friends, and maybe hear a few happy ending stories.

Oh, by the way: they also have excellent whiskies. I didn't mention it in the video, since we were there during daytime...

Una tappa che merita una menzione speciale è Das House, un locale viennese che unisce caffetteria, cocktail bar e amore concreto per gli animali.
Secondo le informazioni pubbliche del locale, il progetto ruota attorno anche al recupero e all’adozione di animali salvati:
- oltre 500 animali (tra gatti e cani) sono stati salvati e adottati grazie alla loro iniziativa
- alcuni gatti presenti nel locale possono essere adottati, creando un ponte diretto tra clienti e adozione responsabile
In un contesto urbano elegante come Vienna, è bello vedere realtà che uniscono ospitalità, socialità e sensibilità verso il benessere animale.
Per chi visita la città, può essere una pausa diversa dal solito:
un posto dove bere qualcosa, interagire con qualche amico a quattro zampe e magari conoscere qualche storia a lieto fine.
Oh, a proposito: hanno anche dell’ottimo whisky. Non l’ho menzionato nel video, dato che eravamo lì di giorno…
Eine besondere Erwähnung verdient Das House, ein Wiener Lokal, das Café, Cocktailbar und echte Tierliebe vereint.
Nach den öffentlichen Informationen des Lokals dreht sich das Projekt auch um die Rettung und Adoption geretteter Tiere:
Über 500 Tiere (Katzen und Hunde) wurden dank ihrer Initiative gerettet und adoptiert.
Einige der im Lokal anwesenden Katzen können adoptiert werden, wodurch eine direkte Brücke zwischen Kunden und verantwortungsvoller Adoption geschaffen wird.
In einem eleganten städtischen Umfeld wie Wien ist es schön, Einrichtungen zu sehen, die Gastfreundschaft, Geselligkeit und Sensibilität für das Wohlergehen der Tiere vereinen.
Für Besucher der Stadt kann dies eine etwas andere Abwechslung sein: ein Ort, an dem man etwas trinken, mit einigen vierbeinigen Freunden interagieren und vielleicht sogar eine Geschichte mit Happy End erfahren kann.
Oh, übrigens: Sie haben auch ausgezeichneten Whisky. Ich habe das im Video nicht erwähnt, da wir tagsüber dort waren...
