It is said that on the night between November 1 and 2, the world of the living and the world of the dead come together, and our loved ones return to visit us. In Sicily, tradition has it that the dead bring gifts to children, a sweet way to teach that death does not erase love, but transforms it.
Andrea Camilleri wrote that on that night, “the dead return for love, not to frighten us.” And this is precisely the heart of the tradition: to remember those who have left us, continuing to feel their presence in small gestures, in scents, in the silence of our homes.
They will live on thanks to our memory.

Si narra che nella notte tra l’1 e il 2 novembre il mondo dei vivi e quello dei morti si sfiorino, e che i nostri cari tornino a farci visita.
In Sicilia, la tradizione vuole che i defunti portino doni ai bambini, un modo dolce per insegnare che la morte non cancella l’amore, ma lo trasforma.Andrea Camilleri scriveva che in quella notte «i morti tornano per amore, e non per far paura».
Ed è proprio questo il cuore della tradizione: ricordare chi ci ha lasciato, continuando a sentirne la presenza nei piccoli gesti, nei profumi, nei silenzi di casa.Essi vivranno grazie alla nostra memoria.

Es wird erzählt, dass sich in der Nacht vom 1. auf den 2. November die Welt der Lebenden und die Welt der Toten berühren und dass unsere Lieben zurückkehren, um uns zu besuchen. In Sizilien bringt die Tradition es mit sich, dass die Verstorbenen den Kindern Geschenke bringen, eine liebevolle Art, um zu lehren, dass der Tod die Liebe nicht auslöscht, sondern verwandelt.
Andrea Camilleri schrieb, dass in dieser Nacht „die Toten aus Liebe zurückkehren und nicht, um Angst zu machen”. Genau das ist der Kern der Tradition: sich an diejenigen zu erinnern, die uns verlassen haben, und ihre Gegenwart weiterhin in kleinen Gesten, Düften und der Stille zu Hause zu spüren.
